Ayrshire Ames Taping & Plastering Services

Ames Taping
Ames taping is a cost effective alternative to plastering. It is used to finish plasterboard joints, leaving a smooth and seamless surface ready for painting. It is faster than traditional plastering offering enhanced durability and improved fire and smoke protection as the compound used contributes to fire resistance.
Plastering, Skimming & Bonding
Plastering creates a smooth, durable surface on walls and ceilings. It can be used to cover, plasterboard brick, blockwork, or existing surfaces, providing a strong base for painting or wallpapering.

Skimming is a type of plastering involving the application of a thin layer of finishing plaster (usually 2–3mm thick) over an existing surface, such as plasterboard or old plaster. It creates a smooth, polished finish, making walls and ceilings ready to be decorated.

Bonding involves the use of bonding plaster, a type of undercoat plaster designed for surfaces that need extra adhesion. It is often applied to difficult surfaces like concrete or old brickwork before a finishing coat is added. Bonding plaster helps create a strong base for further plastering or skimming.

Coving & Artex Removal
Create a seamless finish between your walls and ceiling by adding coving to your room. Helping to create a high level finish.

Apply a smooth modern finish to your ceilings, removing artex to leave a level surface ready for painting.
